F1 is all set to welcome Miami GP into its family. The track will be the second in the United States and will be on the calendar, ready to welcome the Las Vegas GP next year. Ahead of the race this coming weekend, Alfa Romeo’s driver Valtteri Bottas shared his expectations and review of the track.
Valtteri tested out the track virtually before the Imola GP and became one of the first drivers to do so. Sharing his experience of the new track, Bottas, as quoted by the GP Fans, said, “I did proper running in the sim and what was nice to see was that it seems to be a really good track for overtaking.”
“The way the track has been planned, from my side, looks positive. It should be good racing. Pretty long straights and a couple of really good overtaking opportunities. Let’s see how it is in real life but on paper, it looks good and I am sure that as an event, it’s going to be pretty amazing,” he concluded.
What did drivers other than Valtteri Bottas think of the new track?
Valtteri Bottas appears to be satisfied with the Miami track. His review is what every fan hopes the track turns out to be. Fast cars and plenty of overtakes, topped up with glamour reported to be as high as that of Monaco’s, will make Miami a sure hit.
Sergio Perez, too, expressed his delight over the new addition. He said, “It’s a good circuit. It has a bit of a twisty area that is quite difficult to get right, and the visibility can be difficult, but I think racing could be good with all those long straights.”
While the general perspective seems to be positive, a new track can certainly pose challenges that can remain hidden during the simulation runs and mess with the teams’ strategy. So, the practice sessions will be crucial for the teams to gather data for this weekend as well as for the coming years.
