“It was a shame we lost the podium,” Sergio Perez hopes to recover from his frustrating weekend at Paul Ricard

Sergio Perez will be entering the Hungaroring with hopes to bounce back from a disappointing result in the French GP. Perez only finished fourth in France, with a clear chance for a podium. He didn’t manage to utilise his position for the best possible outcome for his team. Sergio Perez didn’t have a pace throughout the French weekend. With his teammate arguably having the second-best car on the grid, Sergio’s pace only allowed him to battle the like of Mercedes.

George Russell beat Sergio after the VSC, Perez was comfortably fighting George for the third podium spot. He ultimately adds his disappointment towards the pace and is looking forward to a better race in Hungry as his team looks over the problems in France.

After the VSC was deployed, Sergio struggled with the restart which Russell used for his maximum benefit. Perez reported that his so-called ‘sleeping’ was a part of a big miscommunication between him and his team.

“It was a shame we lost the podium. The VSC came at the worst possible time for us and the issues with it impacted me at the restart,” continued the Mexican.

Sergio is currently in a 7 points deficit to Charles Leclerc, but his hopes for the championship seem to fade away with a 70 points gap to his teammate on the top. Perez didn’t match Max Verstappen’s pace in the last few weekends, and the 32-year-old will try his best to make a comeback with the pace he had at the start of the season.
