“It was more important for me to realise that it’s okay to quit,” Sebastian Vettel dawns down his decision to quit F1
Sebastian Vettel
Sebastian Vettel will be retiring from Formula 1 after the 2022 season. The last two seasons have been a part of Vettel’s life which he calls out to be the most important years of his career. Sebastian probably had the worse years of his career after losing out on his title in 2018. He opens up about his thought process about retirement after the 18 seasons. Ultimately making it in the 22 seasons.
Sebastian won four titles, 2010-2013, and didn’t have a flinch about quitting the sport in those years. But things started to get downhill as his car was no more competitive in the 2014 season. He then took a bold decision to move to Ferrari to follow the path of Michael Schumacher, his ideal and wanted to win titles with Ferrari. But he failed to do so even when he got really close to it.
As the 2018 season ended, things started to get difficult for the former world champion. And he choose to switch his team and give the sport another try but nothing changed his mind.
“At least for this realization, the past two years have been very worthy for me,” said Seb on his decision of retiring. He was then taken back to his days of winning to which he was made to point on the 2014 season,
“My aspiration was greater than the expectations,” and then to the Ferrari era, “The enthusiasm lasted until 2018,” said Seb.

Sebastian Vettel looks at his family and environment as a reason to stop the sport
Sebastian Vettel is a big environmentalist, his main reason to stop the sport is the carbon emissions he gives out while driving his car. Another reason for his retirement was his family and his growing children.
“At some point, I began to feel ashamed to contribute to polluting the environment with my work & not being able to at least stop it,” said Seb.
But it was a tough decision for Sebastian to make but he doesn’t have any questions that would turn his mind around. “After all the self-doubt that came up in me, it was more important for me to realise that it’s okay to quit. Of course, it would be a great thing to quit as a champion at the peak. Many of us try to do that, some fail and lose themselves,” Sebastian concluded.
Sebastian Vettel will always be one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever witnessed. After the dominance he showed the sport and later converted it to a fight and won titles with both the conclusions would always stay remarkable. The end to Vettel’s story would always hurt his fans but things end for good and so does the story of Sebastian’s career.
