“It’ll be added to the list of discussion topics” : Christian Horner expects Red Bull to make progress with Aston Martin “copying” issue this week

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner anticipates updates in the legal battle between Aston Martin and their claimed infringement of Red Bull’s car design. At the Spanish Grand Prix, Aston Martin infuriated Red Bull by presenting a significantly modified vehicle with a startlingly strong resemblance to the RB18.
The team has been undertaking its own private inquiry while asking the FIA for elaboration on the regulations, and has used Ferrari’s objections at the Monaco Grand Prix as an illustration of why it wants more clearly delineated guidelines.
Aston Martin was exonerated by the FIA of all infringement, but Red Bull has since been looking for any possible data leak. And with a two-hour FIA F1 Commission meeting scheduled during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, the team anticipates the subject will come up.

“We need to come up with solutions” : Christian Horner
“Obviously it’s an ongoing process. It really sits with the FIA at the moment so there’s nothing really further to add from our side. I’m sure, again, within the two-hour window that we have in Austria for the Formula 1 commission meeting next week, it’ll be added to the list of discussion topics,” said Horner in reference to the two-hour meeting scheduled for the Austrian Grand Prix.
Horner offered some insight into the wide range of subjects that he anticipates will be covered at this weekend’s FIA F1 Commission meeting in Austria. Teams who still have questions about the FIA’s new technical directive (TD) will talk with Mercedes, as will the budget cap as teams try to adjust to an increase in inflation.
“I think the TD has largely been addressed. What happened in Montreal wasn’t right, the process, that it was introduced on a Thursday afternoon and the manner without any consultation with a technical group. We need to come up with solutions, because we’re now at the half-year point,” concluded the team principal of the Austria-based racing team.
