“It’s about time to have a new team!” – Fans react as Andretti Global and General Motors aim to bring Andretti Cadillac Racing F1 to life
Andretti and Cadillac
Andretti Global and General Motors decided to drop a bomb as they announced that both the parties were willing to partner up in order to possibly enter Formula 1 in a joint venture. This news came shortly after FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem wrote a tweet stating that him and the FIA will be open to Expressions of interest from teams that want to join the pinnacle of motorsport.
While Andretti has made attempts to join the sport before with various rumours circulating, it isn’t the same for General Motors. If talks move forward, this would be GM’s first time entering Formula 1. Many manufacturers such as Ford, BMW and Lamborghini have tried theirs hand at F1 but haven’t really achieved a respectable amount of success. This move will be a first for the company and the sport.
“General Motors is honoured to team with Andretti Global on this historic moment in racing,” said GM president Mark Reuss in a statement. With the American Motorsport outfit and GM pursuing this pairing, the fans will hopefully get to witness the birth of another American F1 team. With Formula 1 already growing on a substantial rate in America, this news will give it a massive boost.
