Jack Nicholls, an F1 commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live, has been sacked amidst allegations of “inappropriate touching.” He was already terminated from his role as the lead commentator by Formula E last month. The electric racing series opened an investigation against Nicholls after they received a formal complaint of inappropriate behavior. The allegations were made by three people, including an individual who had been in a relationship with him.

Ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Jack Nicholls was taken off air by IMG, which produces the BBC Formula 1 coverage. They have now decided to terminate him permanently, as IMG confirmed the news to the Independent. An IMG spokesperson stated, “IMG has decided to part ways with Jack Nicholls in light of the incidents that led to his departure from Formula E.”

The initial complaint about Jack Nicholls was made in March, and he was accused of inappropriate behavior. So far, three individuals have complained about his acts. After a serious investigation, Formula E decided to sack him from their coverage towards the end of last month. Meanwhile, Ben Edwards will replace him for the Jakarta ePrix and the other upcoming races this year.

A Formula E spokesperson confirmed to Mirror Sport that the investigation against inappropriate touching was carried out after the complaints. They concluded by saying Jack Nicholls’ contract as a commentator was terminated. Nicholls responded to the allegations and the news of his termination. He stated, “Although disappointed with the decision, I respect it and accept why it was taken.”

Jack Nicholls added, “I want to take full responsibility for what I did and apologize unreservedly for a couple of isolated incidents that have made those concerned feel uncomfortable. I never meant any harm and I am committed to making amends and to be more mindful of my behavior in the future.” The former Formula E and F1 commentator for BBC Radio 5 Live has taken full responsibility for his actions.

Nicholls is well known for his Formula E “and we go green..” introduction since the beginning of the championship in 2014. He also appeared on the popular Netflix show, Formula 1:Drive to Survive.

The BBC F1’s radio coverage of the Canadian GP will continue as planned. Other commentators Rosanna Tennant, Harry Benjamin, and Oliver Askew will continue their tasks to provide coverage for the Canadian GP.
