Jenson Button won the 2009 F1 title in a fairytale campaign with Brawn GP. The British driver bowed out of the sport at the end of 2016. Since then Button has participated in other motorsport championships. Now, the 43-year-old has made a major claim about F1 in comparison to the world of endurance racing.

The British driver was recently announced as part of Team Jota Sport Porsche for 2024. Subsequently, Button claimed that the World Endurance Championship was more advanced than the pinnacle of motorsport. Though the former McLaren driver admitted that F1 had the best teams in the world of racing along with the pinnacle of aero design.

In F1 cars, the tech is through the roof and it’s the pinnacle of aero[dynamic design], and they are the best teams in the world. But they are not as technologically advanced as hypercars
Jenson Button told the BBC

The 2009 F1 champion pointed out that the new LMDH supercars had 38 buttons on the steering wheel. As such, Jenson Button claimed that he was blown away by the tech in hypercars and acknowledged that it would take some time for him to get to grips with all aspects of his Jota car.

Jenson Button claims LMDH Hypercars are the coolest-looking cars in motorsport

The 43-year-old praised the design of the new Hypercars in WEC. So much so that Button was convinced that he would have drawn such cars when he was a kid. Certainly, this was a bold statement from the 2009 F1 champion who has driven some of the best-looking machinery in F1.

Hypercars are the coolest-looking cars ever. If I drew a car when I was a kid it would have been a hypercar.

Jenson Button mentioned that he loved to watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1980s. Moreover, the Briton pointed out that the team’s operations were different in WEC than in F1. As in Formula 1 the teammate is one’s biggest enemy. While in endurance racing, teammates need to work together to achieve results.

Jenson Button would be looking to have a decent season in 2024 with Jota. The British driver raced at Le Mans this year with the NASCAR project. The 43-year-old would be targeting to claim a couple of race victories with his team as he races in the series full-time. Fans would be looking forward to seeing Button’s performance next year.
