Haas have been struggling to find their form this season. They are currently eighth in the constructor’s standings and have not finished in the points since May. After a disappointing P15 finish in Belgium, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen revealed how frustration has started to build up within Haas amidst massive upgrades by their rivals while expressing his faith in the team.
While Haas has shown a good pace in qualifyings, Magnussen believes part of their problem has been the inability to carry forward this pace to race day. He said that Haas is laying the groundwork for significant upgrades to the VF-23 and hope to do so by the end of this year.
“It’s, of course, frustrating when you don’t have it, and we want to be up there scoring points, and doing well, and at the moment it’s a bit hard… Unfortunately, some of the cars that we used to be racing in the beginning of the year have just become much faster overall and that’s why we don’t see that gain so much,” said Magnussen.

Kevin Magnussen gives an update on his contract situation with Haas
Magnussen has had a tough run with Haas. He is 18th in the WDC standings, four behind his teammate Nico Hulkenberg. The highest he has finished this season is P10 in Saudi Arabia and Miami. With his contract ending at the end of 2023, Magnussen gave an update on his current situation.
Magnussen said that there have been no talks of an extension yet. Despite claiming on several occasions that Haas’ VF-23 does not suit his driving style, the 30-year-old has expressed his happiness with where he is and will most likely want to continue with Haas.
“We’ll see when it happens and how that pans out. I think at the moment there’s not any news to bring and eventually we’ll come around to it. I don’t really know what’s going on. I feel like the team is pretty happy, but you never know with these things, and I’ll take it one day at a time,” said Magnussen.
With only ten races remaining this season, Haas is on a tight clock to turn things around. As their competitors like Williams show impressive developments, Haas will surely be looking to come back strong after the summer break.
