Kimi Raikkonen with his family
For many foreigners who have worked or resided in Italy, the appeal of the country, of its culture and style, has frequently proved to be difficult to overcome, especially for big personalities in entertainment and sports.
Amongst latter, the name of Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari’s last world champion, comes to mind as the next individual who could come back to the Peninsula. The Finn, in fact, would be one step away from purchasing a home on the beautiful Lake Como, as attested by his appearance in the Tremezzo area in April.
Kimi Raikkonen continues to be amazed by Italy
Since then, the 42-year-old and his family have kept the acquisition of a villa under wraps, but between the former Alfa Romeo driver and his wife, Minttu Virtanen, it was the latter who became obsessed with Italy in a special way.
After getting married to Raikkonen six years ago in San Galgano, Siena, the former stewardess of a low-cost air carrier never has concealed her love for the country, so much that she desires to raise their children Robin and Rianna here, who are seven and five years old, respectively.
To move to the splendid area of Lake Como, however, Kimi would have set terms: in order to depart the villa in Baar, Switzerland, the Finn would like to enable his son Robin to proceed his business with go-karts, in which the baby Raikkonen has already demonstrated some talent. In addition, to help with the transition, tax breaks would be made available to overseas labour who relocate to Italy.
