The Drive for Diversity campaign was launched by NASCAR in 2004 to provide opportunities to people from different racial and gender backgrounds to compete in the series. This campaign is considered a success by numerous drivers on and off the track. Following this, last Sunday’s Las Vegas Cup race winner Kyle Larson has called out the D4D program an essential step for inclusivity.

In the past few weeks, D4D graduates have been at the top of the standings in the series. Before Larson, Rajah Caruth gathered headlines after he became the third black driver in the sport’s history to claim a win in NASCAR. Moreover, Daniel Suarez won the race in Atlanta in an epic photo finish. This has created an optimistic atmosphere concerning the D4D campaign in NASCAR.

Following up with such monumental performances by D4D graduates, the 31-year-old Larson, shared his feelings:

Well, now that you mention it, yeah, I think that’s really important. That’s really cool, with Suárez winning last week was super proud and happy for Rajah on Friday night not only because it’s Rajah and everything that he means to the sport, but with Hendrickcars.com on his truck, and then myself winning here today, it is pretty cool for sure.
Kyle Larson, said as reported by yardbarker.com.

The former champion expressed how important D4D is for NASCAR and increasing the inclusivity in the sport. Furthermore, it provides a platform for drivers to showcase their talents despite their various backgrounds. Moreover, this has enabled the series to move towards a holistic approach and has a place for everyone despite their various ethnicities.

Larson won the race in the Sin-city last time around and has shot up to the top of the standings. Moreover, with a place in the playoffs secured for him, the Californian would now be looking onto maximising the stage points.

The HMS driver has always been the talk of the town since his championship win in 2021. However, last year Larson was unable to defend his title after a series of disappointing races in playoffs and conceded the title to Ryan Blaney.

Thus, the 31-year-old would set his marks high for the season and knab the championship back home. Moreover, Larson is the favourite for the upcoming race in Phoenix as with his previous trends, he is anticipated to earn a top-five finish and extend his lead further.
