The Formula 1 world is on a rise and is growing faster than ever. The sport has gained a lot of popularity in the recent times and a major factor behind this is the Netflix series, Drive To Survive. This show has opened many new markets and avenues for Formula 1. A huge surge of support is witnessed from the America and it is an opportunity that the Formula 1 seized upon.
In the current season, the Formula 1 visits America twice at Miami and Austin. The Miami Grand Prix has already been concluded and saw a record broken of being the most viewed televised Grand Prix ever in the States. Come 2023, the calendar has 3 races scheduled in the USA. The Las Vegas GP joins the two races of this season and it is as big as it gets for the sport. Formula 1 has spent $240 million to purchase the land to house the paddock and the pits for the event.
Stefano Domenicali terms Las Vegas GP as “perfect marriage of speed and glamour”
American fans like everything grand. The announcement about the next year Las Vegas GP has already made a significant impact in the city. Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali elaborated this by saying “Looking towards the 2023 season, we announced the debut of the Las Vegas Grand Prix for November 2023. This will be a Saturday night race down the iconic strip. We cannot think of a more perfect marriage of speed and glamour. Staging a third race in the US demonstrates the huge appeal and growth of our sport here.”
He further added “In fact, in the 24 hours following the official announcement Wynn’s Las Vegas and Encore resort saw more requests for hotel room reservations than any other one day period in their history. We also saw the announcement generate four times more social media activity than the 2024 Vegas Super Bowl announcement.”
The addition of new races and new events is a step in right direction for the pinnacle of motorsport. The support and love viewed at the Miami Grand Prix was a great spectacle for the heads of the sport. Formula 1 being less popular in the United States earlier has definitely turned the tide on its fame in the continent.
