Lawrence Stroll’s Aston Martin team a viable entry option for Audi: Ralf Schumacher
Formula 1 has seen a massive increase in popularity ever since the Netflix series ‘Drive To Survive’. This has opened endless possibilities for the sport in form of entering new markets and racing at new tracks. This translates into a bigger fanbase and more sponsorships for the team, which also attract new car manufactures to the sport. Formula 1 has aimed to improve racing on track by a change in certain number of rules and regulations. These changes further have translated to a removal of barrier to entry for many infamous car engine manufactures around the world.
Formula 1 see a big rule change in 2026 where the MGU-H component of the engine will be removed from the sport as a step towards sustainability. This has attracted names like Porsche which is highly linked with the Red Bull team. Another speculated supplier is the Audi company which is now being linked with Silverstone based team, Aston Martin.
Lawrence Stroll Far from Pleased with Aston Martin Performance
Lawrence Stroll is the owner of the Aston Martin F1 team. The Canadian bought the team in 2018, with rebranding it to Aston Martin in 2021. Lawrence Stroll aims to take the Aston Martin team to new heights while recovering everything he has put into the team. Former Formula 1 driver, Ralf Schumacher commented on this saying “Success in Formula 1 takes time and patience. The team has to be built up first and that just takes time. At the end of the day, Stroll is also an investor.Audi is definitely looking for its own team and accordingly that could fit quite well.”
The Aston Martin team principal, Mike Krack gave his views on situation saying “For any team who has not got a manufacturer on his side, it is super-appealing to have this possibility. So we would be lying if we said we were not interested in something like that, so I would be very interested to talk.”
Currently, the Aston Martin team under ownership of Lawrence Stroll has a 5 year plan in place which is determined to take them to the pinnacle of Formula 1. If and when the 2026 regulations come in play, all eyes would be set on the Silverstone based team to see if they jump ship from Mercedes and take on Audi as their engine partner.
