Liam Lawson debuted during the 2023 F1 season and achieved decent results in the few races that he was a part of. Hence, the debutant had proved his racing skillset to the paddock and how he deserved a seat on the grid. However, Red Bull had no place for Lawson on the F1 grid for 2024. The 22-year-old now awaits an opportunity to return to the grid.

Daniel Ricciardo‘s hand injury was the reason behind Liam Lawson‘s entry on the track. The 22-year-old even performed better than his teammate Yuki Tsunoda on a few occasions. However, Lawson asserted that there was no set timeline for his return in the near future. The Kiwi had scored two points spread across five races and proved his racing mettle on the grid. Additionally, the 22-year-old mentioned that nothing was set in stone regarding his return and future within Formula 1.

Honestly, there’s no set timeline for my future, There’s nothing set in stone, obviously, with my future.

The Kiwi driver even showcased his resentment with the team’s decision to not choose him for a seat in F1. However, Lawson needs to be ready in case an opening occurs on the grid before the following season. The majority of the drivers’ market will open up by the coming season. Hence, the 22-year-old might have a shot at one of the teams on the grid in the coming season. Hence, the driver was salty after being ousted from the team and not being considered for a spot.

Liam Lawson affirms his self-belief to be in F1

Liam Lawson is currently the reserve driver for Red Bull and its sister team VCARB in Formula 1. Hence, the driver is ready to take any chance to drive the challenger if something untoward happens down the season. However, Lawson admitted to ‘feeling like a rookie’ and mentioned that the reserve role was mostly simulator work within the team.

Speaking on his 2024 duties within the two teams in Formula 1, Lawson would travel with the teams to all the racing destinations. Regardless of the lack of opportunities, the 22-year-old is confident in his racing capabilities. Additionally, the Kiwi mentioned that every driver has to have enough self-belief to race in Formula 1 in case of a contingency in a team.

[I'm] going to all the races with the team as reserve. Obviously, it gives you confidence in yourself, Every driver, at this level anyway, has enough self-belief to be in Formula 1 – you have to have it even to come close.

However, no recent updates about Liam Lawson’s potential entry in Formula 1 have been put forth yet. Regardless, the 22-year-old would try his level best to score a seat in the pinnacle of motorsport. The majority of the drivers’ contracts will end by the end of the 2024 season and hence the driver could have a shot at some team.
