Daniel Ricciardo, the former 8-time F1 Grand Prix winner, is on the sidelines because of his FP2 crash at the Dutch GP. Rookie driver Liam Lawson took his place at the event, and the latter has shed light on what Ricciardo told him ahead of his full-fledged debut at the Zandvoort F1 circuit.
Liam Lawson got his first taste of the AT04 during last week’s FP3 session, in which, to say the least, he massively struggled. Seeing his woes, not many were expecting much from him during the main race, but to everybody’s surprise, he could land his car in a respectable P13 finish.
He was recently asked to share his emotions regarding last week’s race, and he has admitted that Daniel Ricciardo massively helped him feel confident in the cockpit of the AT04. While talking about the same, he told Planet F1, “Daniel being the amazing guy that he is, he was super supportive.”
“Basically, before he left to go have surgery, he was still on the track and he was very supportive. He told me to make the most of it and if I needed any help then to ask him. He was very, very good about it.” The New Zealander has made it known that Ricciardo showed his full support toward Lawson at Zandvoort.

Liam Lawson has got the Italian GP as well to showcase his skills
While Daniel Ricciardo was not seen taking part in any of the on-track action after the FP2 session in Zandvoort, it has also been made public by Red Bull that he is also not available for the Italian GP. The Australian is currently on his road to recovery and is most probably going to some time to gain the required fitness.
Until then, AlphaTauri’s AT04 is in the young hands of Red Bull junior Liam Lawson. The Dutch GP was kind of a success for Lawson, considering a lot of factors. Still, the upcoming event at the picturesque Autodromo Nazionale Monza F1 circuit is going to prove a real test for the young driver.
The Monza Circuit is famously known as the Temple of Speed, where the F1 drivers are often seen putting their respective cars through the absolute wringer. Considering this, Liam Lawson will have his hands full in keeping up with the seasoned pros and also, at the same time, showcasing his racing skills.
