The McLaren Group and Chip Ganassi racing driver, Alex Palou, have been engaged in a verbal brawl for quite some time. Amidst all the accusations, the former has taken the matter further by officially filing a lawsuit against Palou for not holding his side of the bargain in a previous agreement with the group.
Alex Palou had previously agreed with McLaren’s CEO, Zak Brown, that he would race for Arrow McLaren Racing in the Indycar Championship in 2024. However, this does not seem to be the case now, as he is reportedly been in contact with F1 teams regarding a seat. The Spaniard’s antics have not at all set well with Brown, and it has been reported that McLaren has filed a lawsuit against him.
Moreover, it is not only Palou that has come into the firing line, Chip Ganassi’s racing entity, ALPA Racing USA, has also been smacked with a lawsuit by McLaren. As per the court records, McLaren Racing Limited and McLaren Indy, LLC, have hired Morgan Lewis & Bockius (UK) to represent them.
While the tussle between the interested parties has now gone to court, Brown very recently let his frustration known in a letter that was addressed to Arrow McLaren Racing. He wrote, “Unfortunately, it now appears our belief, commitment, investment, and trust in Alex was misplaced, as it is not being reciprocated. This is incredibly disappointing, considering the commitment (Alex) has made to us both directly and publicly and our significant investment in him based on that commitment.”

Alex Palou is believed to have held talks with AlphaTauri and Williams F1
While Alex Palou has currently found himself in extremely hot waters, it is a common belief that he has held talks with the lights of AlphaTauri and Williams F1 regarding a seat for 2024. The two teams have got seats available for next year and could hire Palou to help them during next year’s campaign of the sport.
Alex Palou has often proved his mettle in the IndyCar Championship, and this is one of the main reasons why Brown and Co. arranged an F1 test for him and wanted him to drive for Arrow McLaren in 2024. However, it seems the 27-year-old has got the pinnacle of motor racing on his mind to showcase his racing skills.
Formula 1 is the grandest motorsports event that takes on planet Earth, and Palou is determined to get a seat for next year no matter what Zak Brown and Co’s antics. The 2024 campaign is still a bit far away, and until then, the ongoing saga will surely throw a few more curve balls toward both parties.
