‘Mercedes’ and ‘Red Bull’ along with other teams, reveal upgrade ahead of the Imola GP: Report
The Formula 1 world is all set to get going at the Imola GP. The sport comes back to Imola for 3rd consecutive year with the Imola Grand Prix contracted on Formula 1 calendar until 2025. This is the first time that the modern cars of Formula 1 under new rules and regulation will go racing at the 3.050 mile track. The fresh rules and regulations view the cars aerodynamics being dominated by the ground effect which is a new concept for all the teams and drivers on the grid.
The alterations in the rules and regulations has translated into a season with a race for car development on hands of every team on the grid. After 3 races, the Ferrari team looks to have the most dominant car on the grid as they sit on top of the constructors standing. All the teams behind are aiming to chase this benchmark set by the Italian team to close the gap on them. In light of this, numerous teams are anticipated to bring upgrades to their car at the Imola Grand Prix.
Formula 1 Sprint Race an Obstacle at Imola Grand Prix
The Imola Grand Prix hosts the inaugural Formula 1 sprint race this weekend. This translates into a practice session of 60 minutes being lost by each team. These are invaluable minutes as these sessions help the team understand their car better and set up accordingly to extract maximum performance. With new upgrades on the car, these minutes are more valuable than ever as each team with an upgrades has no data about its new parts.
The teams speculated to bring the upgrades start with Mercedes. The 8 time constructor champions are said to bring an upgrade in sidepod, diffuser and rear corner. The Red Bull team are anticipated to bring a new floor and rear corner. The Papaya team, Mclaren is expected to be seen with a new beam wing. Alpine team choosing to bring a new floor and beam wing. The team scoring no points so far, Aston Martin expected to be seen with fresh floor, halo and sidepods. The team at its home race, Alpha Tauri contemplated to update the floor and front corner.
The upgrades are a major factor of the 2022 season with the cars expected to under go development until final race at Abu Dhabi. Each team is throwing the kitchen sink at these upgrades to potentially cover lost ground to its rivals. The interesting thing to pay attention at is how the teams set up their car with limited knowledge about the new parts on their respective cars.
