The pressure seems to be catching up on teams and drivers as the F1 circus lands in Singapore. Mercedes’ George Russell was seen flipping Sergio Perez in Friday’s FP1 after narrowly avoiding contact. Speaking over the team radio, the Brit, while fuming, called out, “He’s an a**hole.”

Russell was entering turn 3 while on a hot lap. Checo was cruising around during the practice session but he was doing it on the racing line. The Mexican moved out of the line to let George through but it was too late as Russell’s hot lap was compromised. The Mercedes driver expressed his fury with a flipping off gesture and the radio call.

Perez seems determined to prove his mettle and subsequently his claim on the Red Bull seat while Russell and Mercedes are desperate to secure their place as runners-up. Mercedes lead Ferrari for P2 in the constructor’s championship and are visibly stressed as the Prancing Horse led the Friday Sessions.

Helmut Marko’s comments about Sergio Perez to ServusTV were observed to be racial and thus have been heavily criticised by many. Marko wrongfully assumed Sergio Perez to be ‘South-American’ and then went on to credit his lack of consistency and a lack of focus to his heritage. He outrightly pointed how Europeans don’t seem to face the same problem.

The Mexican Driver has claimed that the issue has been resolved as Marko apologised to him, personally. Perez claimed to believe in the relationship that the pair share. Checo says a direct apology is much valued to him as he focuses on competing and leaving the comments behind.
