Andretti Global yesterday received the green light from the FIA to compete at the pinnacle of motor racing. Michael Andretti‘s relentless efforts since last year have finally borne fruit, and he is on cloud nine at the moment. He is extremely pleased with the outcome and has recently taken the time to thank the FIA for showing their faith in his team.
The Andretti F1 project is led by Michael Andretti, which is in partnership with General Motors. During the initial process, there were quite a few potential outfits in the running to get a slot in the future F1 grid; however, after a thorough evaluation of all the submissions, the FIA only approved the project submission done by the American outfit.
Everyone involved in the Andretti-General Motors F1 project is immensely pleased, and Michael Andretti, after hearing the good news, has told Soymotor, “We appreciate the FIA’s rigorous, transparent, and comprehensive evaluation process and are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to compete in such a historic and prestigious championship.”

Michael Andretti’s team could be on the F1 grid before 2026
While Michael Andretti is finding it difficult to keep his excitement in check since the recent reveal, he has also clarified that his team intends to be on the F1 grid as soon as possible. Moreover, considering everything, there is a genuine belief that Andretti’s outfit could be on the F1 grid under the current set of regulations.
Audi is set to arrive in 2026 when the next set of regulations changes are slated to take place. The German giants see that year as the best opportunity to announce their arrival in the sport. However, regarding Andretti, the brand wants to compete in the sport as early as possible. 2026 is quite a few years away, and considering this, the Andretti-General Motors project could be on the grid in 2025.
When the American outfit does make its debut in the sport, the Formula 1 grid will increase to 11 teams, and there will be a total of 22 cars sparking their magic around the various tracks all over the world. Formula 1 is in a period of boom, and the inclusion of an additional team will increase the charm of the sport 10-folds.
