F1 has been on an upward trajectory in recent years and has seen several positive changes. While the ongoing 2023 F1 season is in its summer break, the FIA President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, has indicated that he would like to see a manufacturer F1 team from China in the coming years of the sport.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem is well aware of the ever-growing fanbase of the pinnacle of motor racing. He feels that it would benefit the sport to have a team from China, especially considering that they are a nation of a whopping 1.4 billion people. F1 is on the rise, and Sulayem and Co. are determined to increase interest in the sport from all corners of the globe.
While shedding light on his desire to see a team from China in Formula 1, he added, “There are 1.4 billion people in China. Over 50 percent of electric cars on the roads come from China. That’s a fact. China is a big market. When it comes to electromobility and hybrid, the Chinese are serious.”
Sulayem has made it crystal clear as to why he wishes to see a team from China in F1 in the upcoming years. He has pointed to how technologically advanced the Asian nation is and how big an automobile market it has become over the years. Moreover, interest in F1 from China has peaked massively in recent years.

F1 is only going to grow further in the coming years
Since Liberty Media’s takeover of F1, the sport has grown exponentially, and it is one of the main reasons why it has been able to amass a huge fanbase all over the world. Before Liberty Media’s arrival, F1 was a very tight-knit world where access was very limited to the internal operations of F1 teams.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been associated with F1 for a long time and understands how important it is for the sport to make the most of its current popularity. He knows that China being a huge nation, can help the sport in growing even more than it already has. Europe has always been a hotspot for F1, but Sulayem believes it would be good for the sport if it could develop a decent fanbase for itself among the countries in Asia as well.
The hype around the pinnacle of motor racing is at an all-time high, and the sport hierarchy is also trying its best to make it as entertaining as possible. Several changes have been introduced already during the ongoing 2023 season, and if things keep panning out the right way, it is very much possible to see teams in F1 from the various continents of the world.
