Motorsport in contention to be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games

The Olympic Games have been going on for decades and have, over the years, amassed massive attention. It is an event that comes around after four years, and on almost every occasion, one or the other kind of new exciting sport is always considered to get a spot in the mega-event.
The 2028 Olympic Games are scheduled in Los Angeles, USA., as reported bt Racefans.Com Olympic committee currently dwells on the prospect of including motorsport in 2028’s event. The final decision regarding the same will be taken around when October comes around.
Electric karting was included as a competition for the first time at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics and was received well by fans all over the globe. Moreover, during that time, the event was opened by then FIA President Jean Todt, and the races took place at the karting circuit at the Autodromo Juan y Oscar Galvez in Buenos Aires.
Interestingly, the circuit mentioned above is where 20 rounds of the World Championship between 1953 and 1998 were held. The 2018 Summer Olympics is not the only time electric karting has taken place in the Olympics; the 2020 Youth Olympic Games also saw racers going around race tracks at high speeds in their E-Karts.
Motorsport is not the only sport under contention for 2028
While the rumor mill has been going haywire around the potential inclusion of motorsport at the 2028 Olympic games, it is not the only sport that the Olympic committee is currently considering. Sports like -cricket, lacrosse, breakdancing, karate, kickboxing, squash, baseball, and softball are also in play and could get a spot at the premium event.
The Olympics has always been a mega-event that has improved over the years. It is a grand spectacle where every athlete wishes to compete at least once to showcase the work they put in building up for their respective sport at the event. E-Karting has already been at the Olympics a couple of times, and the potential inclusion of motorsport would most probably increase the charm of the event by 10-folds.
Motorsport has come a long way and has recently witnessed a massive influx in its global popularity. From this point of view, finding a place at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games is probably the next step forward in making motorsport more recognizable at the International level.
