Nicholas Latifi clears out ‘strange’ collision in the formation lap: “I did nothing wrong there”

Nicholas Latifi

Nicholas Latifi finished 15th in the Monaco Grand Prix. With the race starting behind the Safety car, everyone got two laps before they were allowed to race. Latifi brushed his car behind the safety car while turning on the famous hairpin. It was a strange scenario to be in, to which the driver cleared all his fault blaming it as “very very strange.”.

The Canadian driver has not been seen kissing the walls for the first time in his career, he has managed to do it quite often this season, but the most famous one has to be the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The title decider of the season, Latifi managed to turn the tides all alone just by brushing the walls which led to the safety car working. After the race was resumed Max Verstappen managed to plunge inside of Lewis Hamilton to win his first-ever title.

2022 Saudi Arabia is also one of the most know moments where the 26-year-old changed the tides of the probable first win of the season for Sergio Perez. Memers have given the Williams Driver a troll name just because of his affections towards the wall, “Goatifi”.

Anyway, Latifi explains the reason for his collision as beyond his control, “I have to understand what happened because for me, I did nothing wrong there. I was just breaking and all of a sudden, the car started accelerating again as I was turning… very very strange.” said Latifi.

Latifi is one of the two drivers on the grid to have scored 0 points till now, the other one being Mick Schumacher. For the poor performance in the opening stages of the season, there were talks about the Williams driver being replaced by the Mercedes reserve driver Nyck de Vries.

Nicolas is currently the 21st in the 20 driver championship, one being Nico Hulkenberg, but the Willaims boss cleared the rumours and showed some confidence in the Canadian but things arent very clean for him this time around.
