The Haas Formula 1 team has had a pretty up-and-down 2023 campaign. The VF-23 has proved quite unpredictable and amidst all the lackluster performances that the team has been putting in recently, Nico Hulkenberg has admitted it would be tough for his team to get the better of Williams this year.

The 2023 campaign is fourteen rounds down and Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg have been only able to put 11 points on the board so far. Haas’s car lacks in a lot of areas in comparison to its rivals and Hulkenberg is expecting some kind of magic to take place in order to bring the team’s campaign back on track.

The German was recently asked whether Haas could snatch seventh place in the Constructors Championship from the Alex Albon-led Williams, and while responding, he told motorsport, “To be honest, Williams, they look like they’re gone. hey, and McLaren obviously made huge progress this year. And I don’t see how we can turn this around unless we find something really magic.”

While Nico Hulkenberg has given a pretty damning verdict on the Guenther Steiner-led team heading forward into the 2023 F1 season, his concern is quite understandable as it has been a long time since Haas finished in the top ten. While the American team has struggled, Williams, on the other hand, has gone from strength to strength.

James Vowels and Co. have done a brilliant job in developing the FW45 and this is one of the main reasons why the team is currently sitting in seventh place with 21 points to its name. As things stand, the gap between Haas and the Grove-based Williams F1 team is that of ten points with only eight races remaining.

Time is running out quite quickly for the Haas F1 team to forge a comeback and somehow try to snatch seventh place away from Williams. Next up on the F1 calendar is this week’s event at the famous Marina Bay street circuit. The track has unique characteristics and from Haas’s point of view, the key is going to be a strong outing in qualifying.
