Nico Hulkenberg and Antonio Giovinazzi are the two names which have on top of the list to replace Mick Schumacher, if Haas decides against renewing the young German’s contract. Out of two aforementioned names, it’s been reported that Hulkenberg is more likely to join the American team. However, these are only reports as Guenther Steiner has not revealed his plans for the future.

After making a brilliant start to the season, the graph has shown a downward slope, which is starting to become a cause of concern for Steiner. There have been performances like Austria and Silverstone, which have shown a lot of promise by Mick but nothing consistent enough to hand him with that extension in his contract. Now, there is a race against time if he wants to stay in F1.

Mick was brilliant during the Dutch GP weekend as well but a poor pit stop cost him the chance of scoring any points. While Kevin Magnussen crashed out in Q1, Mick was able to make his way into Q3. But, the German could only finish P13, which was definitely a shame. Mick can definitely consider him unlucky because he definitely had the pace to finish much above P13.

Guenther Steiner was also not happy with how the race ended as he explained the reason behind the slow pit stop. He said, “The pit stop was one of those things, the front jack got stuck when the car was up which has never happened in seven years, and the one time it happens, it happens during a race.”

“We’re doing around 50 to 100 practice pit stops over a race weekend and it gets stuck on race day. It’s unfortunate but we always keep on pushing whatever happens and that is what we’ll continue to do.”

Talking about Monza, he said, “We know that Monza will not be a strong point for us. All the high-speed, low downforce race tracks don’t suit our car.”

Mick Schumacher’s future hangs in the balance as we head into the business end of the season. The German would like to bounce back sooner rather than later or it could be curtains for him at the end of the season.
