Colton Herta, an IndyCar driver has been rumoured to get in contact with the Alpha Tauri team as a possible driver for the 2023 season. With Oscar Piastri confirmed being a part of McLaren, Alpha Tauri wants to get hold of Herta and not Daniel Ricciardo for their future endeavours.

Although, Colton has removed all the speculations of him getting in contact with any Formula 1 team and wants to focus on his current profession. With two more races to go in IndyCar, Herta intends to put all his efforts into the upcoming races rather than getting himself under speculations for a future in another sport. He has also asked his father and manager to keep all the information to themselves and let him give proper attention to IndyCar.

“There’s nothing I want to talk about right now. I just want to focus on these last two weekends and have a little bit of time to decompress and figure out what’s going on during the off-season, and then we’ll look at the options and see if I have any,” said Herta.

Colton Herta could have all the contracts from the teams and permission from his current team, Andretti, to race in Formula 1 but he still couldn’t drive the car as per the regulations. Formula 1 driver needs a super license to get themselves ready to compete at the top level.

Colton still has no super licence and this will restrict him to drive for any F1 team. Although, FIA could make an exception for Herta considering his experience in motorsport.

But Herta still appreciates his driver in IndyCar, “Nobody should be ashamed to be an IndyCar driver,” said Colton.

Colton himself doesn’t really feel interested in driving a Formula 1 car and is happy with his current position in the motorsport world. Though he insisted in checking out the option as the season will end after two more races.
