“Not everyone gets you, and that’s okay,” Daniel Ricciardo adapts to deal with the hard edges of social media
McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo has always been loved for his wacky style, the funny moments and obviously his performance on the track by all the Formula 1 fans around the world. There are fan pages for him on social media and the fans love making memes and videos on him. We can truly say he’s a people’s favourite.
While social media has a good, fun loving side, it also has a dark and a dull side to it. Some people go out of their way to spread hate amongst the community. They post videos and comments filled with hatred and target a few people to humiliate them. This is the side that Ricciardo doesn’t care about. He believes that ‘not everyone gets you’ and it is okay.
In an interview, Daniel Ricciardo said, “If it’s a stranger behind a computer, then ultimately their opinion should have no influence on you, unless it’s an overwhelming opinion of millions of people,” as per gpblog.
Daniel Ricciardo’s season so far
After a wonderful end to 2021, McLaren would have wanted to keep the momentum going and start 2022 with a bang. Well, that’s something that didn’t happen. Although McLaren are 4th in the championship, they are only just ahead because of the great weekend they had in Australia. They are only two points ahead of their rivals, Alpine.
Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren were finding it difficult to get good results but they did eventually get a good one at Ricciardo’s home Grand Prix. After the weekend Daniel Ricciardo saw himself climb up the championship standings and move into the 11th position as he scored his first points of the season.
McLaren will have to make a huge effort in order to keep this momentum going and get even better results in the following races to get back into their 2021 form.
