“One of the best races I’ve had in F1,” Alex Albon delighted after fending off a train of cars to secure a point finish at the Belgian GP
Alex Albon
Alex Albon scored a crucial point at the Belgian GP for the Williams. Alex is now on points for the third time this season and has alone scored much more points than the team would have expected him to. Alex had to an amazing fight for the scored points after a mind-blowing qualifying on Saturday.
Alex Albon qualified for Q3 for the first time this season and had an amazing starting position of P6 in a Williams. He then didn’t have a very great first lap but managed to stick on points and continue his race ahead with the carnage on the first lap. Anyhow he finished a brilliant P10 with all his strategies on point giving the team a single point to be happy about.
Alex talked about the over-dominating Mercedes engine’s top speed that saved the Williams from all the attacks for P10. “It was, in my opinion, one of the best races I’ve had in Formula 1. It felt like that last stint just holding on, I couldn’t make any mistakes, or else we were going to get passed straightaway. But the top speed saved us a little bit, and I was glad I saw the chequered flag,” said Alex.
Alex Albon on the speedy train fight for the tenth position
Alex Albon had to fight for his position with not less than five cars. He had a whole speedy train behind him, giving him pressure to do a mistake and snatch those points from him. The DRS train is something we have seen this season a lot of times with even the top teams suffering to get ahead. Alex reconsiders this as an amazing fight for the points.
“I was like, you know what, the train is forming, that’s nice, that means everyone has got a bit of pressure themselves. When it’s just you and the car behind, they can afford to drop back, they can come back at you, do different things,” said Alex.
Alex Albon is now P18 in the championship with 4 points to his name, the rest three scored back in MIAMI and Melbourne. Williams on the other hand is still last time in the constructor champions with only Albon-supported points.
