Oscar Piastri’s debut season has been exceptional, as he showcased his potential by consistently competing against more experienced drivers. Following his impressive performance in the Singapore GP, McLaren announced a contract extension with Oscar Piastri, ensuring his presence with the team until 2026.
In 2023, Oscar Piastri made his Formula One debut with McLaren, stepping in for the former McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo for the season. Piastri demonstrated his talent with a remarkable P4 finish in the British GP, solidifying his place as one of the standout rookies in his debut season. During the Singapore GP, Piastri faced a disappointing Qualifying session, where he was eliminated in Q1 and started the race from P17. However, he bounced back with an outstanding race performance, finishing in P7.
McLaren has extended its contract with Oscar Piastri until the end of 2026, solidifying their long-term partnership. Piastri expressed his gratitude after the contract extension, emphasizing that he felt like a genuine part of the McLaren family since the Abu Dhabi Young Driver Test last year.
