Rookie Oscar Piastri had a great stint in his debut Formula 1 season. The Aussie scored an impressive 97 points in the 2023 season and finished P9 in the championship standings in his first-ever season in the sport. Now, the 22-year-old was questioned about his ‘adrenaline-filled’ interest outside of racing.
Piastri insisted that he knew a lot of F1 drivers who were adrenaline junkies and needed adrenaline outside of the sport. However, for the 22-year-old, racing in F1 was adrenaline enough and did not need other wild aspirations. Although Piastri did not rule out the possibility of skydiving like Lewis Hamilton instead of bungee jumping.
I know a lot of racing drivers are adrenaline junkies. For me, racing is enough adrenaline! I don’t have any wild aspirations. I would probably go sky diving before bungee jumping if I’m honest,Piastri told F1
Regardless, Piastri was not in a rush to get his hands on being an adrenaline junkie. The Australian also recalled the opportunity that he got once to go on an adrenaline-filled trip. However, the 22-year-old reckoned that going in a fighter jet would be cool to see how it compares against F1.
But it’s not something I’m in a rush to do. I’ve actually had an offer to go – I don’t think it was a fighter jet – but going into a fighter jet would be quite cool just so see how it compares. As long as I don’t throw up.
Oscar Piastri recalls meeting some big names in his rookie F1 season
After joining F1, it is evident that drivers meet a lot of big-face celebrities in and outside of the sport. The rookie this season was not a stranger to this effect as he recalled meeting some big celebrities after joining F1. Piastri asserted that it was great to meet some very cool people in his first year of being in Formula 1.
However, meeting other big athletes like Michael Jordan or LeBron James would be very cool for the Aussie as he insisted that meeting them would be very cool. The Basketball stars were at the top of his list to meet after joining F1. Additionally, Piastri renounced his happiness on meeting such big names in sports.
Oscar Piastri has been confirmed with McLaren at least till the end of 2026 after a successful first year in the Woking. The team works over the winter break in an attempt to challenge the front runners Red Bull and have a fair chance of championship contention for the team.
