Oscar Piastri reportedly close to signing for Williams on loan for 2023 and 2024

Oscar Piastri

Oscar Piastri has been given to Williams for a two-year loan deal for 2023 and 2024, and will most probably drive for the historic team, replacing Nicholas Latifi. Piastri was the reserve driver for the Alpine for the last two years, waiting for his chance to get the F1 road. He will be getting his seat in 2023.

Oscar won the F2 championship in 2021 and was still left seatless for the 2022 season, people blame it on Fernando Alonso’s aim to still become the F1 championship searching for his third title. It has still not been confirmed as the deal is still in the final stages but will be announced before the summer break.

Willaims are also in talks with Renault as their engine supplier after his season, this could be turned out to be a major turnover for the current Mercedes customer team. Renault has 2 constructors to their name, 2005-2006, and have shown positive results last few seasons.

Renault has been improving their straight line for quite some time now, with the pace they managed to show up within the Baku straights, it’s safe to say they aren’t much behind the table toppers. With the drivers line up spending too much time together on and off-track getting a mix of a young with the experienced driver could also mark their return.

Alpine are 5th in the Constructor Championship with 47 points on the line to finish 4th if the bad luck doesn’t strike them more often.
