With the recent announcement by McLaren and the Contract Recognition Board, granting Oscar Piastri a seat in the McLaren F1 team for the 2023 season, many fans are left wondered as to whether his seat was well deserved? There is no doubt in everyone’s mind that Oscar Piastri has the skills required to be a Formula 1 driver but many have called his integrity into question.

There have been several team principles who have commented on the Piastri-Alpine situation saying that such incidents shouldnt occur. Red-Bull team principle Christian Horner had commented on the Piastri Situation stating, “I don’t fully understand it, because contractually, that should just never happen. I think if Renault and Alpine have invested into his junior career, it’s because you invest in youth because you’re investing in it for the future, and there has to be an element of loyalty within that.”

Nonetheless, McLaren have seen potential in a talented driver such as Oscar Piastri and have signed him alongside Lando Norris for their 2023 Formula 1 season.
