The CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei, thinks the only way to stop Max Verstappen would be to ‘break his leg’.

The Dutch Champion has dominated this season from the very first race. He is currently on-route to rewrite history as he chases his 10th win in-a-row, a feat, yet unachieved by those who’ve come before him. Amidst Max Verstappen’s magnificent form, the Greg Maffei suggests a way to stop the Red Bull driver.
Speaking during a Goldman Sachs event, Maffei said, “Max is incredibly fast. The only way to change that is to break his leg! The challenge we have is that Max Verstappen is having an incredible year, breaking record after record.”
Maffei further commented on the debate on whether Max’s dominance is turning off fans. He dismissed such claims as he added, “We’ve had a lot of success this year. Of the top four races in terms of ratings here in the United States, three of them took place this season, and our ratings are increasing year in and year out.”
The Liberty Media CEO seems pleased at witnessing history being written as Max Verstappen and Red Bull grow even more formidable with every race. Red Bull are eyeing another record, one that has never being achieved by any other team in history. The Milton-keynes based outfit looks to win every Grand Prix of the 2023 season. With 9 more races to go, it’ll be interesting to see if this record remains unbroken at the end of the season.
Nico Rosberg claims Daniel Ricciardo’s chances for the Red Bull seat are gone due to his injury
Daniel Ricciardo made a miraculous comeback to Formula 1 after his year-long hiatus from the sport. “Daniel has such a value to Red Bull, he is liked by Red Bull. This break might be the difference between him replacing Perez next year and staying at AlphaTauri. The hand brake will put him one more year in AlphaTauri”, said Nico Rosberg while speaking to Crash.net
The Australian was left without a seat as Mclaren terminated his contract early to accommodate Oscar Piastri. Ricciardo took up the role of a reserve driver at Red Bull, a team he’s won 9 races with in his previous stint. Red Bull Daniel would be racing in their other team–Alpha Tauri.
Many claimed this was to test whether Ricciardo can take over from Sergio Perez from 2024, and to add pressure on Checo to deliver his best. Now, Former World Champion Nico Rosberg has claimed Ricciardo’s crash and subsequent injury at the Dutch GP may count him out for the Red Bull seat besides Max Verstappen in 2024.
