Photographer Troy Saldana makes a fool of F1 fans with his tale of traveling to Las Vegas GP in $75,000,000 worth private jet and failing to find parking spot
Troy Saldana's Facebook post, which was supposed to be a joke about the Las Vegas GP, went viral overnight, making him the talk of the F1 town.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend is set to begin in only a few days’ time. The massive affair is going to be the most expensive Formula 1 race in history. It is the brainchild of the FIA and the Formula One Management as they wanted to make sure F1 becomes a household name in the US. But the humongous project has led to several controversies springing up over the last couple of months. It started with the local casino managers complaining that the race track construction on the Vegas Strip was affecting their business. Then, came the culinary workers’ strike and now it is all about one man–Troy Saldana.
And now, a whole new faux controversy has made it to the internet thanks to a photographer from Las Vegas, Troy Saldana. The man, who was virtually unrecognizable only last week, has become the most trending personality in F1 town now. This is all because of Saldana’s post on the parking situation at the Las Vegas GP that went viral overnight on Facebook. He jokingly mentioned traveling to the Strip for the race in his $75 million worth private jet and not finding enough space to park it.
Thanks F1. I'm bringing my crew to Vegas for the race. Of course we are bringing my G700. It turns out they don't have enough room at the airport for all the private jets. Hector (my pilot) will have to drop us off and fly down to Arizona. We never have this problem in Monaco or Hong Kong. Do better Las Vegas.Troy Saldana wrote on the Love Las Vegas page on Facebook.
Troy Saldana posts update on how his joke ‘blew up’ on social media
The entire Formula One community is current focused on each and every story that comes out on the Las Vegas GP. Such has been their obsession over the impending race that they readily believed Troy Saldana’s fake story about going to the Grand Prix in one of the most expensive private jets in the world. As soon as Saldana’s post was out on Facebook, Instagram influencer Perez Hilton shared it with his 11,000 followers with the caption “Really rich people are so… inconvenienced.“
On X, @LasVegasLocally reposted Saldana’s story and their 340 thousand followers quickly reacted to it. Troy Saldana addressed the viral post in a recent update.
Last week I made what I thought was humorous post in a Las Vegas group. It kinda blew up in the group. Apparently it's still growing. Some people believe it's a legit post.
But now, it has been established that Troy Saldana was indeed joking about the parking situation at the Las Vegas GP. But there have already been several complaints about the logistical arrangements for the massive race. It remains to be seen how the authoritative team looking after the Grand Prix, helmed by Renee Wilm, makes sure the event runs smoothly despite the shortcomings.
