Pierre Gasly is one of the most exciting talents in Formula 1. The French driver proved himself as a formidable driver during his spell with AlphaTauri. The 27-year-old managed to switch camps to Alpine for 2023. Now, Gasly has revealed that driving for the French team was a dream for his late friend Anthoine Hubert.
Anthoine Hubert was a French racing driver who passed away after a tragic incident at Spa-Francorchamps in 2019 during an F2 race. The Frenchman’s loss was mourned by the entire motorsport world. Hubert was a close confidant of Pierre Gasly as the two raced together during their time in junior categories.
Gasly recently mentioned that he is filled with pride to race for Alpine in F1. The 27-year-old revealed that he was fulfilling Hubert’s dream to win with a French team at the pinnacle of motorsport. The Alpine driver reckoned that he was determined to achieve good results with the Enstone-based team and to eventually win with the French team.
I am very proud to have started a new chapter in Formula 1 with Alpine, because I know Anthoine’s dream was that. Pilot for them and try to win a race, be in the position I am in now. For me, stay with us and I will make sure, for him, that great things happen to us together in the future.

Pierre Gasly shares his feelings after losing Anthoine Hubert
The 27-year-old recalled his last dinner with Hubert. Gasly described that the two went to have dinner in Budapest right before the summer break. Pierre Gasly was not in a good phase of his career as it was just days before Red Bull demoted him to AlphaTauri. Gasly opened up about the hardships he faced to move on from the death of his close friend.
We had dinner together in Budapest for the last time before the summer break, although I was not looking forward to that day. A few days later, they told me they took me out of Red Bull to go to Toro Rosso and he sent me a very special message. I think no one is ready to lose a friend like that at that age.
The Alpine driver highlighted that he had even been roommates with Hubert for a long time. With the death of the F2 driver having a massive impact on his life. Subsequently, the 27-year-old faced a difficult time after the death of Anthoine Hubert. However, Pierre Gasly has certainly made his friend proud with his performance in F1.

Pierre Gasly has maintained a tradition of paying respect to Hubert every year during the Belgium GP. The Frenchman even held a run dedicated towards the late F2 driver at the circuit this season. Certainly, Gasly still remembers his friend and would be looking to fulfill his ambitions of winning the F1 world title.
