Pierre Gasly astounded on the notion of losing Monaco GP
Monaco Grand Prix
It is no secret that the world of Formula-1 has gained a massive audience in recent years. As a consequence, the sport continues to see new venues and events being added to the calendar. Formula-1 has been speculated to be adding upto 30 races in a year with the current year seeing the highest ever 23 races. Going to these new tracks and new countries is a step in the right direction for the sport. However, this comes at the cost of classic formula one venues such as the Monaco Grand prix and Belgium Grand prix.
Formula-1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali presented his thoughts by saying that “even classic circuits need to earn their spot and cannot rely on past glories to guarantee future grands prix. Talk has prompted suggestions that Monaco could be one of the races under threat, especially as it is an outlier on Formula-1’s business model in terms of rights hosting fee and its television production.”
No Monaco Grand Prix is a Hard pill to swallow for Pierre Gasly
Various drivers in formula-1 term the Monaco Grand prix as their home race. The frenchman, Pierre Gasly dumbfounded by the thought of no Monaco Grand-prix said “That would be a bit of a shocker if Monaco gets taken out of the calendar. Talking to non-F1 fans, everyone had heard about Monaco for various reasons, whether it’s racing, whether it’s party-related, whether it’s all of the action that happens around the grand prix. It’s a very iconic weekend.“
Speaking about other historic circuits on the calendar, Gasly added “Obviously to me, I have a very special attachment to these races. “My home race (France), and Monaco kind of feels like a home race, then Spa is the closest race from my hometown, so I usually have a lot of support there. We know Formula-1 nowadays, there are a lot of things involved in how to plan the whole season, so we’ll see what happens. But personally, I really hope we can keep them over the next few years.“
