“I was disappointed,” Pietro Fittipaldi let down by Haas decision

The season commenced for the only American team on the grid, Haas F1 team seeing the driver pairing of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. The unfortunate circumstances saw Nikita Mazepin losing his seat and leaving an empty spot in the ranks of Haas F1 team. This presented an opportunity for numerous driver whose eyes lit up when the news broke out. Drivers such as Antonio Giovinazzi, Kevin Magnussen and Pietro Fittipaldi were speculated as the favourites to fill this position.
Pietro Fittipaldi, having served a reserve driver for the Haas F1 team since 2019 was the lead runner to grab this spot. However, the Haas F1 team choosing to go down the path of an experienced driver in form of Kevin Magnussen translated into disappointment for the young one.
Pietro Fittipaldi is the grandson of the infamous two time world champion, Emerson Fittipaldi. The young Brazillian in his 4th year with the HAAS F1 team has driven for the team on quite a number of occasions. Pietro Fittipaldi made his Formula one debut in the year 2020 at the Sakhir Grand-prix. The debutant replaced the injured driver, Romain Grosjean who experienced a life threatening crash. Pietro Fittipaldi raced two races for the Haas F1 team that season with the Haas F1 team principal, Guenther Steiner speaking highly of the rookie’s performance.

For what could have been a break through for the young blood turned into a sorrow. Pietro Fittipaldi shared his views on the same by saying “As a driver, of course I was disappointed because it was very close. I understand the team’s decision, but I also know what they could have achieved together.” The upcoming driver looks forward to the Brazillian fans having his back and cheering him on. Pietro Fittipaldi was born in Miami and as Formula one heads to Miami Grand-Prix, he looks forward to it.
The seat of a formula one driver might not have come to him the easy way. However, Pietro Fittipaldi refuses to give up and continues his season also competing in the ELMS. He would further participate in 24 hours of Le Mans later in the year and summed up his expectations by saying “I wouldn’t say the chapter is closed”.
