Gerhard Berger analyses Ferrari and Red Bull cars in Imola
Red Bull was amongst the cars which were deemed heavier in the grid. Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen pointed to the instability of the RB18 towards the start of the season. Compared to Ferrari, the team were facing major reliability issues with Max suffering 2 retirements in the 4 races so far. Having trimmed five kilos from their car ahead of the race in Imola and being one of the only teams to introduce upgrades, Gerhard Berger believes the team are much better than the Scuderia.
Berger says, “It has been more difficult so far for Red Bull to get the tires in the right operating window. Ferrari was also better than it is in terms of weight, although Red Bull lost five kilos for Imola. That’s one and a half tenths per lap. Red Bull did just a little bit better than Ferrari in Imola and that proved to be enough to win. Fortunately, nothing went wrong this time.”
With a One-two finish in Imola and Max Verstappen claiming all the maximum possible 34 points this weekend with his Grand slam, Red Bull has caught up with Ferrari. They are just 9 points behind the Italian outfit in the Constructors championship.
