AlphaTauri has long been a member of the Formula One grid, albeit previously under a different alias of Toro Rosso. The Italian team is the junior or sister team for its more successful counterpart, Red Bull racing. With a couple of wins to its name, the team has not done too badly for itself in its career spanning nearly two decades.
AlphaTauri has been under the radar for a long time, with many debating on whether it’s fair for a single organization to own two teams on the F1 grid, risking a competitive advantage. AlphaTauri has certainly made sure to try and rectify that, but there are still concerns over things like their 2024 vehicle being heavily inspired by Red Bull’s 2023 RB19.

The sale of the team has also been a talked-about topic since its inception, and AlphaTauri rejected multiple offers to retain that second spot on the grid. Now most recently, with the flurry of teams aiming to be on the grid shortly such as Audi and Andretti, selling AlphaTauri also became more significant.
However, Red Bull has reportedly denied an offer to buy the team in early 2023. With the huge price tag close to $1 billion, as reported by Formu1a.uno, the offer was rejected as Red Bull helps AlphaTauri focus on becoming more involved with the midfield going forward.
Christian Horner confirms AlphaTauri will be boosted by new management
AlphaTauri has undergone many changes in its time in F1, even changing its entire brand to promote the fashion selection of the same name. Going from winning a race with Sebastian Vettel to the bottom of the grid to winning a race again in 2020 with Pierre Gasly, the Italian team has had as turbulent a history as its counterpart Red Bull.

Now the team is faced with further changes coming its way. With the departure of longtime boss Franz Tost, new management is coming in, with Peter Bayer as CEO and Laurent Mekies replacing Tost as team principal. Red Bull Racing’s team principal Christian Horner believes that the competitive nature of the new leadership will help take AlphaTauri to new heights in terms of performance.
They [AlphaTauri] have new management coming in, with Peter Bayer as CEO and Laurent Mekies as team principal. And they're both competitive guys, they are both, you know, want to compete to, you know, to move the team forward and, so it has a new drive behind itChristian Horner said on AlphaTauri’s new management
Also dynamic is the driver line-up for the team. With four drivers competing in the two available seats in 2023, the changes in the drivers could be unprecedented. Especially with Daniel Ricciardo aiming for a Red Bull seat in 2025, along with Liam Lawson and Ayumu Iwasa waiting in the wings, Alpha Tauri could have multiple contracts on their hands.
