AlphaTauri is the Red Bull sister team on the F1 grid. The Austrian giant had acquired the struggling Minardi team in 2005 to have a second outfit in the sport. The Faenza-based team has always been under the direct influence of Milton Keynes ever since. However, things are set to change as AlphaTauri gets a new identity for 2024.

As per reports from Formu1a.uno, Red Bull’s new board led by Oliver Mintzlaff is about to make major changes at the Faenza-based team. This overhaul is taking place after the death of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz last year. Mintzlaff and his board have even refused an offer to sell AlphaTauri close to a billion dollars.

Moreover, the energy drinks giant is likely to reduce the influence of Christian Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko at the Faenza-based team. Presently, the two key figures play a major role in AlphaTauri’s operations including its driver line-up. However, things are about to change as Oliver Mintzalff aims to give more importance to the Red Bull sister team, including more investment and new branding for 2024. The new name is alleged to be ‘Racing Bulls.’

AlphaTauri to continue operating in Faenza for the foreseeable future

The Red Bull sister team has been based in Italy’s Faenza since its days as Minardi. Although, rumors had surfaced that AlphaTauri might completely switch to the UK near the Milton Keynes-based Red Bull Racing. However, as per reports, the Italian team will continue at Faenza while expanding certain departments in its Bicester UK base as well.

The aerodynamics department is expected to shift completely to the UK. On the other hand, Faenza would comprise the design office, composite production, and even the installation of power units. Certainly, this would give a new direction to AlphaTauri with the arrival of ex-Ferrari Race Director Laurent Mekies as Team Principal in 2024.

Certainly, Red Bull has grand ambitions for its second F1 team. The energy drinks giant aims to give AlphaTauri some independence instead of keeping it in the shadow of Milton Keynes. Fans would be waiting eagerly to see the new identity of the Faenza-based team with two new American sponsors on board for next season.
