Former Mercedes driver claims Christian Horner’s investigation “really damning” for Red Bull

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner is currently under investigation over inappropriate behavior claims. The 50-year-old has so far denied all accusations. However, the 50-year-old will continue his duties at Milton Keynes until a verdict is reached. Now, former Mercedes test driver Sam Bird has voiced his concern over the entire situation.

The Formula E driver claimed that Horner’s investigation would have a massive impact on the personnel at Milton Keynes and its sponsors. Moreover, Bird reckoned that this case could even alienate Red Bull from potential sponsors despite the team’s incredible form in recent years. Although, Christian Horner recently claimed that it was business as usual at Red Bull.

It’s going to be a distraction for the team in as much as I think it’s really damning for people involved with the team, so sponsors and potential sponsors.

Moreover, the British driver claimed that Horner’s investigation would tarnish Red Bull’s image. The situation will be a PR disaster for Red Bull as such a key figure was accused of such a severe offense. Sam Bird labeled this case to be ‘shocking’ for Milton Keynes. Recently, Max Verstappen’s PR team imposed a ban on questions relating to Christian Horner at a press conference.

Christian Horner’s future in F1 is at risk

Christian Horner was allegedly accused of sexually transgressive behavior. The 50-year-old reportedly even offered to settle the case for $800,000. However, the female employee rejected this offer and is now looking to take the matter to the English courts soon.

For now, Horner has remained as the Red Bull Team Principal courtesy of majority shareholder Chalerm Yoovidhya. However, things could change quickly if the 50-year-old is found guilty of the charges against him. Christian Horner will be present at pre-season testing in Bahrain. Although, Red Bull GmbH is keen on fastracking the case.

Horner has found himself in a tough spot amidst the recent allegations. The 50-year-old is losing favor of severe figures in the paddock including Max Verstappen’s father Jos Verstappen. However, Christian Horner has reaffirmed his innocence so far. As such, it would be interesting to see how this investigation progresses in the coming days.
