After making his F1 debut with the Haas F1 team, Mick Schumacher spent two underwhelming seasons before being replaced by Nico Hulkenberg. Now, after spending a whole year on the sidelines with Mercedes, the 24-year-old manifests to return in 2024. But Sebastian Vettel has admitted that Schumacher’s return might not be easy.

Vettel reckons that Mick is in a tough spot for a potential F1 return next season. The four-time world champion hinted that there is one seat left where Schumacher could be an ideal candidate. However, it would be a challenge for the German to take that seat. Previously, Mick Schumacher was tipped to be an option for Williams to replace Logan Sargeant. But nothing came out of it.

Sebastian Vettel told Sky Germany, “The situation is difficult at the moment. There is perhaps still a single cockpit and at the moment it is not that easy or rather difficult to get in there and slide in. But there is always some possibility.”

Germany has given F1 some of the best drivers in recent history, be it Sebastian Vettel or Michael Schumacher. However, in the current F1 scenario, there is only one German driver in the form of Nico Hulkenberg. But he has noticeably failed to make a mark, while also recording for most races without a podium in F1.

Vettel is convinced that Formula 1 needs a young German driver on its grid to promote it in his home country. However, Mick Schumacher’s absence might be hampering the sport’s reach in Germany. Sebastian Vettel said, “From a German perspective it’s essential. Mick is not just the biggest young talent, but perhaps even the only one at the moment.”

Further, Vettel believes in Mick to pull it together and achieve the unthinkable. But it is the matter of how the young German handle the pressure. With just one seat remaining for the next year, according to Vettel, it remains to be seen if Mick can carry the German baton forward in Formula 1.
