Sebastian Vettel is a Formula One legend, highly regarded as one of the greatest drivers ever to grace the pinnacle of motorsport. He is widely recognized for his four consecutive world title wins with Red Bull, along with his time spent at Scuderia Ferrari. He concluded his illustrious career after spending two years with Aston Martin and retired aged thirty-five.
Vettel has continued affiliating himself with motorsport, however. He has announced that he will drive at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year. After his last appearance at the Goodwood event in 2012 driving the RB7, which he used to win the previous year’s title, he will be making a comeback. This time, the retired F1 driver is scheduled to showcase some of his noteworthy F1 cars by driving them up the hill during the weekend of July 15-16.
Speaking on his comeback, he said, “It’s great to be coming back to Goodwood after all these years. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of some of my most memorable cars, which will be running on sustainable fuel over the weekend. I’m a passionate racer and it’s important to me that we continue to enjoy driving iconic racing cars today, and in the future, but that we do so in a responsible way,” reaffirming the importance of awareness.
According to estimates, around 20% of the vehicles participating in the 30th edition of the Festival of Speed will utilize alternative power sources such as electric, hydrogen, or synthetic fuels. Enthusiasts will be thrilled to have the chance to commemorate Vettel’s remarkable career and witness him in action on the hill.
A potential return to F1 is on the card for Sebastian Vettel
The German legend cemented himself as one of the greatest after his four consecutive world titles with Red Bull Racing. He then switched to Scuderia Ferrari and spent six seasons with the team. During his time with Ferrari, he won 14 races and finished as runner-up in the championship on three occasions. He then joined Aston Martin Racing for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, after which he decided it was time to call it a day on his remarkable career.
Although Sebastian Vettel’s racing days are over, he has not entirely parted ways with the sport. Despite announcing his retirement, he has acknowledged the possibility of returning to F1 and is not entirely closing the door on the idea. This could have him poised to return to the sport in a different capacity than a driver.
There are speculations that the four-time world champion is considering a new position at Red Bull. Sky Sports Formula 1 pundit Ted Kravitz has suggested that Vettel could potentially take over the role of motorsport advisor from Dr. Helmut Marko, who has been a significant figure at Red Bull for a long time. Many believe he would be the ideal person to mentor Red Bull’s younger drivers.
