The 2023 Formula 1 calendar comprised 23 rounds. However, only 22 races took place due to the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna GP at Imola due to floods. However, the 2024 season will have an astonishing total of 24 races in the season. Hence, Sergio Perez has spoken over the status quo and highlighted the issues of such an extended calendar.
The Mexican insisted that teams and drivers would be raising their concerns about the lengthy calendar. Although it was too late this year to ponder over the matter, changes for the subsequent season could be put forth according to Perez. Additionally, the 33-year-old reckoned that he had never seen people be so exhausted after a season of Formula 1 as this season ran 22 races.
Obviously, it's something that we're going to raise up to try and then see what can be done, Probably now it’s [too] late for next year, but for the year after to really try to maximize it. I never remember seeing people so exhausted at the last race.Perez said, as reported by racingnews365.com.
In addition to this, Perez highlighted that this issue needed to be seriously looked into as F1 risked the long careers of people in the sport due to the high number of races. The staff and the mechanics also need a long career in F1. Hence, F1 needed to reconsider the number of races according to Perez.
I think it's something that we got to be taking it very seriously, It’s important for the sport, for the drivers to obviously keep having these long careers that we've seen. For the staff from the mechanics, we want them to have very long careers as well. So I think it's something we've got to consider.
What does the calendar of 2024 entail in Formula 1?
The calendar of 2024 would run a whopping total of 24 races over the course of the season. However, multiple changes in the calendar are noted alongside the change in the number of triple headers and sprint races. The entire calendar seems extended and stretched to the grid as multiple people shared their opinions over it.
The season will commence in Bahrain at the beginning of March and will be dragged on until December with the ultimate race at Abu Dhabi. Hence, the comments from Perez are imperative for a look into the matter.

The running of 24 races in a singular season is going to happen for the first time in the history of Formula 1. Moreover, difficult destinations may run the risk of tiring the drivers and the crew even further. Hence, F1 might need to reconsider the number of races in a season for the sake of the sport.
