Sergio Perez confident ahead of the Imola GP: “Think we are in a great position for tomorrow.”

A thrilling start at the sprint race has earned Sergio Perez bragging rights as he finished in P3, behind the race winner Max Verstappen and P2 Charles Leclerc. This means that the Mexican will start from the second row, alongside Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who made up six places after having started P10 on Saturday.
The criticism came for the Mexican after he managed to finish only P7 in the qualifying session due to 5 red flags. In a difficult position in which his teammate is, the Mexican’s ability to provide support to Max was questioned. Having made three places at the start, it was only a matter of a few laps before Perez was running firmly on P3 and will now be there to support the Dutch.
Speaking afterward to the press, Sergio Perez speaking of the team effort, said with a grin that it would be an “ideal” case for Red Bull to finish 1-2 and win maximum points. And that it would be great for them but not for the “Tifosi.“
Sergio Perez’s optimism for the main race
The cover-up in such a short time will be crucial for Red Bull on Sunday. With Charles Leclerc squashed between Max and Perez will be under pressure as Red Bull can hatch a plan to trap the Tifosi driver.
Sergio speaking after the race, pointed out the importance, saying, “I think it was important to minimise qualifying from yesterday. Today we managed to recover and I think we are in a great position for tomorrow.”
After sustainability issues since the first race, Red Bull and its drivers would have their fingers crossed, as for the first time in this season, they’re starting in such a good position. Sergio can play an important role in holding off Carlos Sainz early on and push for 1-2 alongside Max Verstappen.
