Turkey no longer stands in the Formula 1 calendar. The Turkish Grand Prix held at Istanbul Park was loved by fans and drivers alike. The country had a massive fan following for the challenging and entertaining track layout. However, the race is no longer a stable part of the F1 season. Yet, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed the feelings of the entire paddock after Turkey suffered a destructive earthquake.
Stefano Domenicali was shaken after the recent disaster in Turkey. As per the Richter scale, the region faced a life-threatening magnitude of 7.8. Stefano gave a heartfelt message to the nation on behalf of the F1 community. The official Formula 1 Twitter account passed on the message. Stefano wrote, “Turkey has a very special place in the heart of F1 with so many incredible people.”
Stefano Domenicali started out by expressing the importance Turkey still holds for the sport and its fans. Certainly, the country’s absence from the F1 calendar is felt by drivers and fans as well. Further, Stefano was quick to mention the astonishment of this terrible incident in the region. Domenicali said, “The tragedy that has taken place there has shocked us all.” Of course, the entire international community is presently working toward helping the country.

Stefano Domenicali provided his condolences to the region along with prays to the victims and their families. Domenicali stated, “we pray for the victims and the people of Turkey.” It is understood that as of now, the people of Turkey need every bit of support and all the prays they can get. Formula 1 may have sent prayers to the victims. But, the sport can even help in the relief efforts in the country through financial or humanitarian aid.
Although, no word from Formula 1 has arrived except for the message by Stefano Domenicali. Thus, it seems that presently, Formula 1 does not possess the resources to help a country instantly after such a natural calamity. The earthquake has killed over 1600 people as of yet, with the death toll set to increase. Thousands of people are reportedly stuck under the rubble and wreckage of the buildings.
Thus, Stefano Domenicali and Formula 1 have provided their support to the disaster-hit Turkey. Although, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds further. Whether the government is able to carry out relief efforts sufficiently, with the help of the international community. Citizens around the world are praying for Turkey and its people as they go through a major crisis.
