Alfa Romeo driver, Valtteri Bottas delivered a stellar result at the Imola Grand Prix. The Finnish driver crossed the chequered flag in P5 and scored 10 valuable points for his new team. In the sprint race on Saturday, Valtteri Bottas drove exceptionally to grab 2 points for the team with a P7 finish. The driver in his first season with Alfa Romeo has now managed to score in three races out of the four in the season so far. Valtteri Bottas consistent string of results view him 8th in the drivers championship, just behind his former Mercedes team mate, Lewis Hamilton.

Valtteri Bottas has shown hints of his potential and his pace in Formula 1 often by out qualifying the seven time world champion, Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. In the 2022 season, the Fin jumped shipped from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo by signing a multi year deal with the team. Alfa Romeo currently sits 5th in the constructors championship because of the performances delivered by their new signing, Valtteri Bottas.

Old Foes, Valtteri Bottas and George Russell Battle It Out On Track

Former Mercedes driver, Valtteri Bottas has won 5 constructors championship with the Mercedes team. The Fin was swapped with the upcoming talent, George Russell at the team at the start of the 2022 season. The 2021 Imola Grand Prix saw a feud between Valtteri Bottas and George Russell on track which resulted in Russell crashing into the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas.

At the Imola Grand prix in 2022, the two drivers found themselves in similar position. This time around Valtteri Bottas was chasing the Mercedes of Russell to earn the 4th position. Valtteri expressed his thoughts on this saying “I tried not to think about it!” as he referenced the incident of last year. But Mercedes and George, that was my motivation throughout the race, to push every lap and hopefully get a chance towards the end. I didn’t quite get it. I lost like 10 seconds in the pit-stop, and without that, for sure it could have been a bit different.”

All of Valtteri Bottas efforts were in vain as he was not able to overtake his former team’s race car. However, a gap of just 4 points separate him and Lewis Hamilton in the drivers championship currently. The Fin is upto pace with his new team and would have his ambitions high to outscore his former team, come the end of the season.
