“That’s a good run from us,” Kevin Magnussen ecstatic after another points finish in Imola

Kevin Magnussen

Kevin Magnussen enjoyed another memorable weekend since his return to Formula One with Haas. The Dane enjoyed more points after finishing P9 in Imola, taking his and Haas’s points tally to 15. This means he has secured points in three of the first 4 races of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

The Dane secured Haas’ best qualifying result in F1 with a P4 in the Qualifying session despite the wet conditions on Friday. He managed to finish the first Sprint race of the season with a P8 after Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez fought their way to P4 and P3 after starting P10 and P8.

Magnussen still salvaged one point with his 8th place finish in the sprint. Eventually, he managed to finish the Emilia Romagna GP in ninth, claiming 3 more points. Kevin himself admitted that he had fun this weekend after securing points in both races.

Kevin Magnussen: “Out of five races, we got points in four”

Kevin Magnussen turned up to Imola having never driven in the circuit before. Despite the wet condition on Friday, the Dane still managed to claim P4 in an evening when 5 Red Flags were shown after multiple drivers lost control. This was also the first Sprint race of his career. But Magnussen trumped his challenges by maximising every ounce of performance in his Haas VF22.

Magnussen said, “It was fun. I had a good start and we had a good pace in the wet again but unfortunately, it dried up and we weren’t as competitive. I was hoping the rain would continue because we had a slightly better pace in the wet but you can’t control that. Out of five races, if you count the sprint race, we got points in four, so that’s a good run from us.”

Heading to the first-ever Formula One Grand Prix in Miami, Magnussen will have high hopes with the run of form Haas has had since the season started. He is 10th on the drivers standing while Haas is 8th in the Constructors championship, 1 point behind AlphaTauri in 7th.
