Alan Jones and Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo has always been the one who greets everyone with a smile and lightens the mood. At the same time, we need to understand that he is a F1 driver for McLaren and that in turn means that the Australian has immense amount of expectations riding on his shoulders. Your reputation based on your previous performances can only take you so far as this business is fast and at times, cruel.

The Australian has not been to the best of starts this season which has meant that McLaren have come up short in their fight with problem ridden Mercedes. The German manufacturers, after a really long time, have shown a chink in their armor providing the likes of McLaren a sniff of hope to become the best of the rest. But, the lack of form shown by Daniel Ricciardo has held McLaren back to create any sort of pressure.

The lack of pressure on Mercedes due to Daniel’s lack of form has increased the pressure on Daniel in terms of his seat in F1. After Sergio Perez signed a deal with Red Bull, Pierre Gasly would have to look for another team to make that plunge. McLaren seems like a pretty good fit. What this also means is that Daniel Ricciardo might have to be more feisty in his approach to secure the results or he might be shown the door by Zak Brown.

When the chips are down, a F1 driver has to be more aggressive in his approach or he might lose that coveted seat. Alan Jones questioned Daniel Ricciardo’s nice guy reputation recently. He said, “[His future at McLaren] is questionable at the moment. Unless he makes a few improvements – quick smart – I really can’t see him being there for too much longer, to be honest.

He is a great little race driver and he is a hell of a nice guy. But, of course, we all know nice guys don’t get anywhere, particularly in Formula 1.”

“The bigger d*ck you are, the better off you are – there are a few out there at the moment that have proved that,” as reported by planetf1.

Daniel Ricciardo is racing against time to save his racing career in F1. If the Australian fails to bring his A game to the table in the next few weeks, it might be curtains for him sooner rather than later.
