“The great Jim Clark never won here either” David Tremayne consoles Charles Leclerc after a heart wrench result in Monaco

David Tremayne, an F1 journalist, consolidated the disheartened Charles Leclerc ahead of the loss in Monaco. Home hero was on pole and looked the quickest in terms of lap times from his rivals, even though he finished his first Home race but lady luck still wasn’t on his boat, he, however, lost the race on Sunday and also missed the chance to lead the championship.

David talked about Jim Clark, a British Formula driver and a two-time world champion, mentioning that lady luck never sailed with Jim as well, even the two-time world champion failed to get a victory on the streets of Monaco.

“It may be worth mentioning that even the great Jim Clark never won round the streets of Monte Carlo. He was usually the quickest man there, too, yet never got to woo Lady Luck,” he writes in Formula1.com
But also understands the feelings Monegasque has right now isn’t the best for the ‘consolation’, “But that scant ‘consolation’ most certainly isn’t one that Charles would want to hear right now.” wrote David.

Is Charles Leclerc now just worth ‘consolations’?

Charles Leclerc had a fantastic start to his season, he won two of the first three races, had one of the best starts to the season since 2016, was out of everyone’s reach and led the championship by a hefty margin. But he has lately seen Max closing up to him and now over his head due to the mistake and bad luck the Ferrari went through. Not only the regaining champion but his teammate, Sergio Perez, is only 6 points behind Leclerc.

He might still have the stage to get his payback in the coming races, but this time it is going to take him and his team everything to beat the Red Bulls. Leclerc hasn’t been on the top of the step for four races now which is quite frustrating for the driver and the team, considering their car being the fastest overall.
