The fifth round of the Formula 1 2022 season is set to undergo at the Miami Grand Prix circuit. The drivers and the teams walk into the weekend without any prior data available for this track. Each team looks forward to master the track layout faster than its rivals to steal the glory in United States. The last race weekend out in Imola, saw the Red Bull team assert its dominance at enemy soil with a 1-2 finish. The Red Bull celebrations added fuel to the fire at Ferrari and Mercedes, who had a sub par race weekend.

Ferrari walked into the Imola weekend with a sizeable lead over Red Bull in the constructors championship. However, the exceptional result of the raging bulls closed the gap with the prancing horses by 57 points. Currently, Ferrari lead the Red Bull with a bleak lead of 11 points. The other constructor having a rough weekend out in Imola were the Mercedes. The Brixworth and Brackley based team were in a year long fight with Red Bull the previous season and hoped to assert their dominance in the new era of Formula 1. Nevertheless, Mercedes find themselves overshadowed by the pace of the Red Bull so far in the season.

The championship leader, Charles Leclerc had a tough result to face at the end of the Imola weekend. The driver spun trying to over take the Red Bull car ahead and finished in P6, costing him 7 essential championship points. The other Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz scored 0 points in the race by having a lap 1 crash that ruled him out of contention. Chris Medland expressed his views about the situation at Italian camp, saying, “So now it’s Ferrari who will want to recover from a tough weekend, and get back to the sort of form that saw Leclerc dominate in Melbourne”.

The 8 time constructor champions made the headlines after Imola as their star driver, Lewis Hamilton finished in P13. However, the other Mercedes driver, George Russell scored solid points by grabbing P4. Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff termed the car undrivable at the end of the race. The German racing stable is set to find a solution to its problems by upgrades at the next racing. Medland commented on this by saying “All is not lost, as Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin has hinted Miami could be the venue where there are further upgrades introduced.”

The Miami Grand Prix offers a magnificent spectacle for Formula 1 this weekend. The racing action on track could deliver some head turning results. It remains engrossing about whether the Red Bull, Ferrari or Mercedes take the maximum points from the maiden race in Miami.
