Daniel Ricciardo has never quite lived up to his expectations at McLaren. Almost a year and half into his McLaren reign, the Australian driver is still getting used to the new machinery. The matters have been made worse by his teammate Lando Norris’ exploits. The young Briton has been scoring points on a consistent basis.

Daniel Ricciardo has managed to collect just 19 points so far, whereas, Lando Norris has accumulated 70 points under his belt. The former’s under-par performances have been hurting McLaren, who had to recently give up their fourth place to Alpine.

Daniel Ricciardo’s career has been on kind of a downhill, ever since he made his decision to leave Red Bull back in 2018. However, the veteran driver still remains upbeat and is positive about improving his situation at McLaren. He stated that he plans to stay with the team in 2023, and has not ruled out a possibility of fighting for the wins.

The speculations regarding Daniel Ricciardo’s future with McLaren seem to be never-ending. It was earlier speculated the McLaren are already sizing up their options for the 2023 season, with Sebastian Vettel among one of the candidates.

However, Andreas Seidl has ruled out any such talks, and has asserted that Daniel Ricciardo will at least see out his contract, which expires at the end of next season.

“From our point of view, there was never any speculation required. We have been clear from our side that we have a contract in place, and our sole focus is together with Daniel on finding these last percentages in terms of performance,” he added.

That is what we are focusing on. The statement wasn’t a surprise, it was just confirming where we both are together, which is in line with what we say for several months. So, no surprises,” said Seidl.

Daniel Ricciardo managed to get himself back among the points at the French GP, as he bagged two points with a ninth-place finish. However, given his ability and past experience, the Australian certainly wants to push himself higher up the grid.
